THEY played countless of matches together since childhood and have won many of them for Vidarbha including two Ranji Trphies and two Irani Cups and former Vidarbha captain Faiz Fazal was right up in the list congratulating Akshay Wakhare who played his 100th First-Class match while playing the Ranji game against Uttarakhand at Dehradun on Saturday .
Former India opener and ex-Vidarbha captain Faiz, who himself has played 138 FC games, said he was proud of Akshay’s achievements and lauded the way he presented himself on the field.
Faiz congratulated ‘legend’ Akshay on the social media with a picture of both.
Talking to ‘The Hitavada’, Faiz said, “Really proud of Akshay.
“We both played cricket since childhood. The way he worked hard... We both know how important cricket is for us and we both have worked hard to reach this far. Proud of one of my dearest friends who is a very humble guy. He is the same guy since he started playing. That’s is his best quality. He stays humble with each of the team members and that’s what I like the most.”
Wakhare became fourth Vidarbha cricketer to play 100 First-Class matches with India pacer Umesh Yadav, Faiz and former Vidarbha spinner Pritam Gandhe being the other three.
Wahkare was felicitated by Match Referee Shakti Singh in presence of other officials and members of both the teams.
